Easter Egg Trail
MONDAY 14TH TO FRIDAY 25TH APRIL | 11AM TO 3PM
Come along to Bryngarw Country Park to hunt for some giant Easter Eggs that have been hidden around the park!
Collect your quiz sheet from the Visitor Centre, before heading out to find them all. Draw the patterns you find on your sheet to win a chocolate-y prize!
Once you have completed the quiz sheet, head back to the Visitor Centre to claim your prize (dairy free options available). Entry is £4.50 per child and includes the quiz sheet, crayons and chocolate prize. No pre-booking needed, pay on the day.
Age guide: 3+, pram and pushchair friendly, running time: 40+ mins.
Wildlife Wednesday - Mighty Moths
WEDNESDAY 16TH APRIL | 10AM TO 12PM
Join the Ranger Team in Y Nyth to explore the mysterious world of moths! See what’s been attracted to our moth trap overnight and enjoy close up encounters with a multitude of species.
This is a DROP-IN event. £4 per child – pay in the café on the day and present ticket to the Rangers in Y Nyth, no pre-booking required.

Celebrate Easter weekend at Bryngarw House with a delicious afternoon tea, comprising of a selection of finger sandwiches, savoury treats, homemade scones and an egg-cellent selection of miniature sweet treats.
Spend the afternoon in the heart of Bryngarw Country Park, where spring will be in full bloom, and a special visitor will be hopping along to share some Easter goodies!

Wildlife Wednesday - Nature Journaling
WEDNESDAY 23RD APRIL | 10AM TO 12PM
Meet in Y Nyth to create your own nature journal with the help of the ranger team.
Draw what you see! What colour beak does that bird have? What shape are the leaves? How many legs does that bug have?
Use nature journaling to figure out what you can see around Bryngarw Country Park. This ranger-led activity will teach you how to identify species of trees, minibeasts and birds.
All materials are provided. Some activities will take place outside so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Dawn Chorus
SATURDAY 10TH & SUNDAY 11TH MAY | 5AM TO 7.30AM
Join us for a guided walk around Bryngarw to celebrate the beauty of bird song at dawn.
Rise bright and early with our feathered friends and listen as the air fills with the incredible sound of woodland birds in all their spring glory, before heading back to Y Nyth for a nice hot drink and continental breakfast!
Continental breakfast includes a selection of pastries, toast and accompaniments, served buffet style and self-service tea and coffee.
Introduction to Invasive Non-native Species
WEDNESDAY 14TH MAY | 10AM TO 11.30AM
Learn more about invasive species and how you can help stop the spread!
Workshop includes a presentation in Y Nyth, followed by a guided walk around Bryngarw Country Park to record species using the LERC Wales App.
Suitable for ages 16+. It is recommended that you have a smart phone for this workshop.
Guided Insect Walk – Bumblebees and Solitary Bees
THURSDAY 15TH MAY | 10AM TO 12PM & 1PM TO 3PM
To celebrate World Bee Day, we have invited Entomologist Liam Olds to lead a guided walk on native bees at Bryngarw.
During the walk, we will discuss how to identify wild bees, where they nest, the flowers they like to visit, and their natural enemies. Participants will have the opportunity to see (close-up) a variety of wild bees. This will include the more familiar bumblebees, as well as smaller and often overlooked solitary bees such as mining bees, nomad bees and furrow bees.

National Insect Week – Guided Pollinator Walk

To celebrate National Insect Week, we have invited Entomologist Liam Olds to lead a guided walk on pollinators at Bryngarw.
The walk on focused on pollinating insects, giving participants the opportunity to see a wide range of insects including butterflies, day-flying moths, hoverflies, bumblebees, solitary bees, beetles and other insects. The walk will cover identification, lifecycles and ecology of these pollinators.

Awen are working in partnership with Tanio to offer weekly creative arts groups to anyone struggling with loneliness or isolation, living with poor mental or physical health, or who would benefit from seeing a friendly, welcoming face or meeting new people.
The free sessions, funded by Bridgend County Borough Council, offer art, music, movement and creative writing opportunities at Y Nyth, our Education and Wellbeing Centre.
