Arborists to start tree safety work on Monday 27th March

By Sophie, 27th Mar 2023

As part of The Welsh Government and National Lottery Heritage Fund ‘The Woodland Investment Grant’ awarded in 2022, Arborists will be starting work on Monday 27th March to carrying out some tree safety along the pathways and roads into Bryngarw Country Park.
They will be removing only dead, dying or dangerous branches above pathways and roads to ensure the safety of all of our visitors so there may be some small disruptions to the main entrance drive, the road may close for five to ten minutes to allow the contractors to carry out their work. The disruption should be minimal and traffic management will be in place throughout.
The team will also be carrying out some invasive species removal on the Rhododendron, Rhododendron has no value to native woodland wildlife, they are highly invasive creating a monoculture and outcompete native plants such as bluebells and wood anemone. We are removing the Rhododendron to increase biodiversity and enhance the ecosystems within the park to attract as much native flora and fauna as possible.
‘The Arb Team’ will be working here over the next 2 weeks in their first stint and will be periodically coming back to take on other tasks up to December 2024.
